Happy New Year and other belated holiday greetings! I hope everybody has had a relaxing and enjoyable holiday season!
I have been missing for quite a while. To be honest, I gave up. I quit. I got tired of fighting to be seen on social media. I got tired of having to be a “social media content creator” instead of a writer. If I couldn’t write because I had to be a full time content creator, I didn’t want to do the work anymore. I was done.
I have been caught in a way of thinking about how this needed to look which kept me quite stuck and was very frustrating. It took me all this time to finally figure it out. I don’t necessarily need social media. I don’t need to fight for a following so I can write a book or a blog. I can write the book or the blog anyway. I can write the content, share the link, and walk away. I don’t have to do anything else if I don’t want to.
But there was one other hurdle I had to get over before I could accept that as truth - it is still practical and reasonable to write a book even if nobody reads it. It is still practical and reasonable to write full time even if nobody is paying attention. It is okay to do what I do. I don’t need to wait for “permission” in that way.
So here I am. I’ve stopped waiting for permission and I’ve started writing again - just in time for the new year!
